Agung Restaurant

Well, I finally have time to write the restaurant review for the dinner we had a few weeks ago. Two of my fellow colleagues were both on RDO’s that Friday; and they invited me to join them for dinner after work. The main purpose of this dinner was to celebrate our crazy yet funny friend – Ms Gina’s birthday ;-)) we went to Agung Restaurant, which is a restaurant that serves traditional Indonesian cuisine located at 789 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn. The interior of Agung is pretty nice, me thinks. BUT, the menu is nicer..hahaha.. we couldn’t resist the urge to order heaps of food again!! I especially loved the Ikan Bakar Bumbu Rujak (charcoal grilled fish topped with red curry sauce), it was great!!! Besides this, we also had Tempe Mendoan (organic fermented soybean covered in herb batter), I was really impressed with this dish as the fermented soybean tasted a bit weird to me. Of course, two dishes is not enough for three big eaters like us, so we also ordered Satay as well as the Beef Rendang. Delicious!!! Really yummy!! The beef was tender and the sauce was sharp enough. The beef rendang wasn’t too oily and fatty; it went really well with the white rice. Yum!! Will definitely go back again!! A great night out again with girls!!

Were the satays similar to the malaysian satays of like satay kajang? I havent tasted satay indonesia yet but I heard it's a lil bit different.

me personally prefer Indonesian satay (can be chicken, lamb, beef & pork) as the peanut sauce not so fine and they are not using curry powder.. you should give it a go..
